Women who are at the cutting edge of technology and run businesses in the sector which are worth one million Australian dollars have won some special awards
IT's Million $ Babes Awards has chosen five winners this year in a range of different roles ranging from web entrepreneurs to software developers.
On its website, the awards states among its aims: "Not only to honour women of accomplishment in the IT arena, and not only to provide positive role models that will encourage girls to seek out careers in IT - but also to show that one's gender is neither a barrier to any career one wishes to choose, nor something to be denied or hidden."
Females who have picked up awards after complying with this mantra include Rosy Jansen, managing director and chief executive of national IT training company Computer Training Options.
Another winner is GLiNTECH's co-founder, Desma Spyridopoulos, who is a strong advocate for allowing mothers in the workplace.
The awards were launched by Sonja Bernhardt, the woman behind the Doing IT Around the World campaign.
